Wednesday the California Public Utilities Commission ruled that it considers Uber drivers to be employees. Uber, Lyft and any other transportation networking companies must provide workers compensation for all employees by July 1 or see their license revoked.

The EU Reportedly Readies Antitrust Charges Against Amazon- DTH

DTH-6-150x150The Wall Street Journal reports that the EU is preparing to file formal antitrust charges against Amazon for using third-party seller data to create competing products, Amazon places a one-year moratorium on police departments using its Rekognition service, and security researchers detail the CallStranger attack that uses a Universal Plug and Play network protocol exploit.

Macs with ARM getting Legs – DTNS 3798

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s sources say that at WWDC on June 22, Apple may announce that it will replace Intel chips in Macs with its own ARM-based processors. IBM wrote a letter to members of the US Congress announcing it no longer offers general purpose IBM facial recognition or analysis software. Germany will commit 400 million Euros for funding of electronics research and development to reduce reliance on imports used in critical infrastructure.
