The idea is he has a half hour conversation with someone which becomes the podcast and then he draws a trading card of them based on the conversation. So far he’s done 12 amazing cards including such geek luminaries as Jonathan Coulton, the RiffTrax crew, Veronica Belmont and Morgan Webb among several other amazing geeks.
I’m a little embarrassed to be counted among the stars, but Len saw fit to draw me up for his lucky 13th card. Len says he had a hard time drawing me, but he did an amazing job. It’s a very flattering and handsome depiction. Oh. I see what he means. It looks nothing like me. IN any case, it’s well worth a look and supporting the project if you feel like it.
You can find the card here and the writeup here.
Continue Reading »Starting May 14th I’ll be doing a whole lot of different things.
On that day I’ll step down as a full-time employee of CNET. I’ve been there almost 6 years. They were my lifeboat after TechTV sunk and I’ve met and worked with some awesome people there.
But I’m burying the lede. Starting June 1 I’ll be joining Leo Laporte’s TWiT network as a daily host. Stay tuned to TWiT for more details on what I’ll be doing there.
As for CNET, I’m still working out the details of what I can continue to do there. Maybe Top 5, and maybe some regular appearances on BOL.
Overall I’m incredibly excited. This will allow me to keep doing some of the things I love for CNET, while opening the door to a whole lot of creative flexibility and control over my own content.
So what kind of content do you want to see on TWiT? I’ll have some 20 hours or so to fill, so ideas are more than welcomed!
Thanks again to CNET for being pretty cool through this process and a huge thanks to Leo for having the confidence in me to give me this opportunity!
And thanks to all the folks who watch and listen to what I’ve done over the years. Because if you hadn’t done that, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this.
Update: For perfectly understandable reasons, CNET has declined to keep me on part-time to do any shows. But I do have pitches out at a couple other outlets. Plus they’re paying for the drinks on my last day, so I’ll make sure to make them feel it then.
Continue Reading »My regular contribution of SuBBrilliant News content to the Mozomedia Music podcast is live. Episode 89 features two custom song requests, tales of the Land of Poh and lost Pooks, fresh Auricular music, and my SuBBrilliant News report.
You should know that one story in the podcast version is from the SuBBrilliant News site each time but two stories are exclusive to Mozomedia. SO if you like the stories you get two fresh ones by listening, and if you hate the stories, you can avoid ever coming into contact with two more.
Get the episode at this link.

Continue Reading »I have always wanted to work on a graphic novel but I can’t even draw stick figures. Think how XKCD makes me feel. But at Dragon*Con in Atlanta this summer, my friend Len Peralta of Monster by Mail and Jawbone Radio fame, kindly offered to let me help him out on a graphic novel concept.
The title is Tent Town. You can get more info on it at Len’s blog post. Suffice to say we’re just teasing you with the cover art and hope to be releasing more soon, a few pages at a time
