I was intrigued with you DVR discussion and I wanted to share with you an idea I've had for a while that frankly, I can't believe it's not already available: Why don't 'they' figure out a way that you can automatically 'bookmark' a program when an TV ad comes on? How cool would that be? no more searching for the channel, time and date when you see a show advertised. They could even tie it in to web browsing ads!
