Yeah burndive you're probably right. When I first launched this blog I put in the more restrictive login requirement to keep down the blog spam. But the Akismet plugin works so well on all my other blogs that are open, it's really not that big of a deal.

So you convinced me. I'm opening the comment bay doors.

So, I was going to comment with something actually related to this post, but first I have to point out that in this modern age of the Internet (ages last a few months these days, btw) you have no excuse to have an exclusive log-in system for comments on your blog.

Seriously, I have to create an account, just so I can comment on this one blog? Seriously, Tom?

It would be thinkable if only I could use OpenID to log in--but no! I have to dig a confirmation e-mail out of my spam folder (first time I've had to do that in a while, but that's where it landed) and then manage an account--complete with username and password, just for your blog. Needless to say, I have cookie cutter account details, but I shouldn't have to do that, and you know that.

It's great that Wordpress provides these tools to make and manage accounts, and I'm sure they're appropriate, but only for content hubs with communities built around them.

Maybe you get too much comment spam, I don't know. All I know is that this was a laughable user experience (which I am currently ranting about to extract the necessary value from my account in proportion to the suffering I have hitherto endured).

Oh, and cute song, but I could only listen to that once. I wasn't alive in the 1970s.

Love the podcast though.
